What is new for 2027
The fair’s free daily entertainment page announces Camp Capybara, the first time capybaras have come to the Pasco County Fair. Four of them, named Candy, Cake, Cookie and Cream, will be on the fairgrounds, and the owner asks visitors to stay calm and let the animals come to them. Concerts, the demolition derby and the rodeo for 2027 are listed as coming soon on the fair’s website.
What the fair is
The fair is about livestock and farming as much as rides. Its 2027 program lists beef, swine, dairy, small animal, poultry and rabbit shows, a plant show and FFA and 4-H exhibits, plus home arts, an art show, youth exhibits, a talent show and a karaoke contest. Big Rock Amusements ran the midway in 2026.
Getting there and parking
The fairgrounds are 7.6 miles east of I-75 Exit 285 on County Road 52, at the intersection with Morning Side Drive, the fair’s directions page says. Parking is free. The fair asks drivers to lock their cars, note where they parked and watch for people walking in the lots.

History
Fairs in Dade City go back to 1915. A group of local businessmen led by San Antonio rancher D.E. Cannon chartered the Pasco County Fair Association on April 7, 1947, and bought 40 acres along State Road 52 with $3,500 it raised. The first documented fair ran Jan. 20-24, 1948. The association is still an independent nonprofit with about 1,538 members, its history page says.
