Last checked Oct. 10, 2026. Numbers come from each utility’s own outage page and from Pasco County’s 2026 Disaster Guide, which lists the power companies serving the county.

Pasco County has more than one power company, and which one serves you depends on your address. The county’s disaster guide lists Withlacoochee River Electric Cooperative (WREC), Duke Energy and Tampa Electric (TECO), along with Sumter Electric. The name on your electric bill is the company to call. Report outages to it, not to Pasco County. If a line is down or anyone is in danger, call 911.

Safety

From the utilities’ own guidance:

  • Assume every downed line is energized. Stay away and report it immediately.
  • Stay out of flooded areas and debris, which can hide downed lines.
  • Run a generator outside, and plug appliances directly into it. Never wire a generator into your breaker box: it can send power back onto the lines toward repair crews, Duke warns.
  • If you leave home during an outage, turn off appliances or the main breaker.

Medical needs

If someone in your home relies on electric medical equipment, tell your power company and your doctor before storm season, and register with Pasco County’s special needs program at 727-847-8137. See our hurricane prep guide. WREC lists a medically essential program on its website.

Water outages

Water is separate. If Pasco County Utilities provides your water, report outages and main breaks to Utilities Maintenance at 727-847-8144. See who to call in county government.
